Food Pantry – There are many different volunteer opportunities available – click here to see the listing. In particular, SVDP needs Food Pickup Volunteers: Twice a month we assemble a small group of volunteers (6-10 people) to meet at either Dollar Tree, Chantilly, or Aldi, Fair Lakes to pick up inventory. After loading cars, we meet at the pantry to stock the shelves. The pick-ups are on a weeknight usually from 6:30-7:30 PM. This activity involves lifting (multiple cases of canned goods, etc.) and it is helpful if volunteers have a hatchback type car or SUV/Van, but this is not necessary. An email is sent to volunteers each month to see who is available to help. There is no standing commitment, and volunteers can sign up as their schedule allows each month.
