St. Timothy School – New Principal
I am happy to inform you that I have selected Mr. Joseph McLaughlin as the new Principal for our School beginning July 1, 2012. Mr. McLaughlin is currently at Holy Family School in Dale City, where he has served as Principal for the past 3 years. In that position, he has worked with faculty and staff to strengthen the School’s Catholic identity, increase student enrollment, improve standardized test scores and develop strong relationships with parents and the local business community. Under Mr. McLaughlin’s leadership, Holy Family has implemented curriculum mapping, differentiated instruction programs and new instructional technologies which have been instrumental in achieving higher test scores. Mr. McLaughlin also has significant experience as an assistant principal, teacher and business executive, having served in various executive level positions in an international corporation for more than 15 years before beginning his career in education. Mr. McLaughlin has a deep love for our Catholic faith and is passionate about his work in Catholic education. There will be a welcome reception for Mr. McLaughlin on Sunday, June 3rd, after the 12:30 Mass in the McGivney room. All are welcome to attend. In the meantime, please join me in praying for Mr. McLaughlin, his wife Lucille, and their seven children as he transitions to the Principal position here at St. Timothy’s.
God bless,
Fr. Weymes
HHS Mandate Violates Religious Freedom
Recently, the Obama Administration decided to mandate sterilization and contraceptive coverage, including abortifacients, in health insurance plans offered by religious institutions, such as colleges and hospitals. This decision by the Department of Health and Human Services is a direct attack against religious liberty.

New Translation of the Roman Missal
On the first Sunday of Advent this year, we began using the revised English translation of the Roman Missal. While the structure and order of the Mass have remained the same, many of the prayers and responses of the Liturgy have been newly translated into English from the original Latin text, resulting in many wording changes throughout the Mass. The new, more precise translation provides a better sense of the richness of the Latin text and preserves more fully the theological tradition captured throughout the centuries in the Liturgy.
Laminated cards are available in the pews to assist parishioners with learning the new responses. In addition, the Order of Mass can be found in the new Vatican II Hymnal beginning on page 4. For those who would like to practice at home, the specific wording changes resulting from the new translation may be found here. Parts of the Mass
