Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
On December 1st more than 225 parishioners attended the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. We prayed the Mary, Mother of Life Novena in the Church and then headed over to the School for delicious food, fun entertainment and great company. Fr. Schultz and Fr. Weymes wowed us with beautiful renditions of “Ave Maria” and “Send in the Clowns”. Several volunteers received special gifts from Fr. Weymes for their long-term and dedicated service to our Parish. It was a great evening in celebration of our Parish volunteers.

RCIA
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) has be celebrated with the first liturgical Rite of Acceptance on the first Sunday of Advent. In this rite, the RCIA Candidates and Catechumens having completed the period of inquiry, assemble publicly for the first time, and declare their intention to the Church, and the Church in turn accepts them as persons who intend to become its members. Therefore, please pray for the Candidates and Catechumens that they may be nourished and sustained as they continue in their spiritual journey toward initiation into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
For additional information visit the RCIA section of this website or contact Sr. Theresa at 703-691-4294 or Marie Pedersen at 703-867-0380.
New Translation of the Roman Missal
On the first Sunday of Advent this year, we began using the revised English translation of the Roman Missal. While the structure and order of the Mass have remained the same, many of the prayers and responses of the Liturgy have been newly translated into English from the original Latin text, resulting in many wording changes throughout the Mass. The new, more precise translation provides a better sense of the richness of the Latin text and preserves more fully the theological tradition captured throughout the centuries in the Liturgy.
Laminated cards are available in the pews to assist parishioners with learning the new responses. In addition, the Order of Mass can be found in the new Vatican II Hymnal beginning on page 4. For those who would like to practice at home, the specific wording changes resulting from the new translation may be found here. Parts of the Mass

Ushers Needed
St. Timothy’s Ushers play an important role at each of our weekend Liturgies. At each Mass, they greet and help to seat parishioners, take up the offertory collection, facilitate the lines for the reception of Holy Communion, assist parishioners as needed during Mass, and hand out bulletins after Mass. We are currently in need of volunteers to serve as Ushers, especially at the Saturday 5:30 pm, Sunday 7:30 am, Sunday 10:45 am, and Sunday 5:30 pm Masses; or as substitute Ushers when needed for all Masses. Training will be provided. If you’re interested in serving as an Usher, please contact George Stalcup at ghstalcup@cox.net or at 703-830-4798. You may also call the Parish office at 703-378-7646
