National Organizations

Boy Scouts:
Since 1910, the boy Scouts of America has been dedicated to preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes through programs that emphasize character, citizenship, and fitness. For more information concerning the Boy Scout units sponsored by St. Timothy Parish please call the Boy Scout phone number listed in the bulletin.

St. Timothy Parish sponsors three Scout units:

Cub Scout Pack 146. Cub Scouting is for boys in 1st through 5th grades and emphasizes family and practical skills through fun activities.

Boy Scout Troop 146. Boy Scouting is for boys ages 11 through 17, and teaches team work, leadership, and service through a program of outdoor and camping skills.

Venturing Crew 146. Venturing is for young women and young men ages 14 (and graduated 8th grade) through age 20. Venturing emphasizes leadership and personal growth through challenging pro grams and activities, particularly outdoor high adventure.

CYO:
CYO is St. Timothy’s high school and junior-aged youth group. CYO usually meets on the second, third, fourth, and fifth (if there is one) Sunday of each month after the 5:30 P.M. Mass in the MultiPurpose Room and/or school gym. CYO provides a great opportunity to meet new friends, join in some great games and activities, as well as learn some things that will strengthen and deepen your faith.

Filipino Ministry:
This is a gathering of the Filipino community to share and celebrate our faith traditions with the larger church body. Works include hosting one of the 9 evening masses for Simbang Gabi ( 9 novena mass spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ.)

Knights of Columbus, Fr. Nudd Council:
The Knights of Columbus is a social, family, fraternal benefits organization of lay Catholic men and their families dedicated to the Church, which performs charitable works in the parish and the community. Founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut, by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, a 29 year old priest; the organization has grown to 1.6 million members. The Fr. Robert E. Nudd Council at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church was established in 1979 and is named after the founding pastor of the parish. There are over 300 members in the council.

Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary:
The Ladies Auxiliary meets to encourage each other socially and spiritually. We collectively support the activities of the Knights as families and participate in the events sponsored by our council beside our husbands. We coordinate meals for parishioners and help with events. All ladies who are over 18 and the wife, widow, mother, sister, or daughter of a Knight are welcome to join our bimonthly meetings where we share and pray the rosary.

Knights of Columbus Squires:
This is a group of young men age 10-18 sponsored and led by the Knights of Columbus.

Rose Squires:
Squire Roses are a Catholic young woman’s leadership group sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, for girls ages 10-18. The Roses meet monthly and work on various charitable activities in the parish, as well as leadership skills, public speaking, financial responsibilities and spiritual growth. All while having a whole lot of fun!

Legion of Mary:
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization of the lay apostolate, in which Catholic men and women sanctify themselves through prayer and spiritual work in union with Our Lady under the guidance of a priest.

Marriage Encounter:
Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage deserves that kind of attention!

St. Vincent de Paul Society:
A group of devoted parishioners that comes together to aid those in need financially as well as through their parish supported Food Pantry which supports over 150 community members each month. For more information please contact their Help Line: (703)385-4010.

Servants for Jesus:
St. Timothy’s chapter is part of the Virginia group of this National Organization. This is a group of Indian American Charismatics who meet on a regular basis. A national convention is held yearly.
