All adult volunteers that work with children must attend a Virtus Seminar (Protecting God’s Children)

Our Lady of Consolation Bereavement Group exists to serve the emotional and spiritual needs of all interested adult parishioners who are mourning the loss of a loved one. It is grounded upon prayer, compassion and confidentiality. Encouraged development for growth in personal experiences dealing with death and the grieving process are particular points of approach with the group. A compassionate heart and a love for Christ and His people is all that is required to volunteer.

Our Lady of Consolation is the guiding light for this group. Each of the seven monthly sessions is dedicated to Mary’s Seven Sorrows. The primary goal is to increase devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary thus enabling the grieving to draw on their Faith for comforting support and gentle guidance during this very trying time. This helps them to unite their sorrow and grief to the life of Mary and the Passion of Jesus Christ. The next goal is for members to grow in the Hope of our Faith found in the Resurrection.

Landscape volunteers strive to beautify and maintain the church and school grounds. Parishioners are encouraged to assist us in this endeavor.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. These weekends are held locally four times a year in nearby Herndon, VA.

The PCM St. Timothy’s group will kick off our second year at our parish on Thursday, September 21 from 7-8:30 pm in the Multi Purpose Room. College moms from our neighboring parishes that may not have a group are invited as well, so please spread the word. (NOTE: Due to construction, we will move to school library in October). We are a Catholic 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides outreach and resources to moms of college-age children. We meet every third Thursday; weather permitting in winter months, from 7-8:30 pm for prayer, fellowship, topic-based discussion, support and always some laughs! Other parishes meet at different times, so there’s always a group that may work with your schedule. This year we will use Maribeth Harper’s new book, “And So We Pray 2” as a rough outline for our meetings. You can learn more about PCM by checking the website, and can also order your book from there. We will have a few books for sale on the 21st. Moms of high school juniors/seniors beginning the college search, those of graduate/advanced degree students and those moms of recent college graduates and of other faiths are most welcome (we generally pray one decade of the Rosary at each meeting as an FYI for other religious faiths). Also…..drum roll….SAVE the DATE PCM seminar with author and facilitator, Maribeth Harper, Sunday, October 1, 2-4pm at St. Timothy’s. See website for more details on this and fall Care Package projects. Look forward to seeing old and new faces at our first meeting, Sept. 21 and at our table at the Ministry Fair on 9/9 and 9/10. Current and new members of our group, kindly RSVP via email with your first/last name; first name/grade and college of your child/children in college; cell phone and email to Mary Ellen Walsh, or text 845-323-1459.

This group meets every Wednesday in the McGivney room to plan activities, including movies, shopping trips, eating out, etc. All parishioners 55 and older are welcome to participate.
